2026 Chamber Music Camp

Music Amongst Friends

Chamber Music is often described as “music amongst friends”. It is the art of learning to perform in small groups where visual and aural communication between each performer supplants the role of the conductor. Learning to build trust and having fun exploring music together is at the heart of chamber music! From it musicians form and strengthen friendships that last a lifetime!

Hosted in Russell Hall at the UNI School of Music, camp students will not only learn the basics of how chamber music works but will also be engaged in:

  • Morning Technique Classes
  • Daily Coachings from Professional Musicians
  • Group Activities

2026 CV Chamber Music Camp Faculty Include:

String Faculty: Erik Rohde, Hannah Jacobs, Theo Ramsey, Joanna Mendoza, Molly Wise

Camp structure and cost

This year’s camp will run from July 13-17 and will be held on the campus of the UNI in Russell Hall. The camp runs from 8:30am-12:00pm each day. Students should not be dropped off any earlier than 8:00am, there will be no one on site before that time.

Thanks for continued donor and foundational support, the registration fee for our 2026 camp is $60 for each student.

Will there be a performance?

Yes, the final day of the camp will include a final concert for all participants in Graham Hall which is located inside Russell Hall. The concert will begin at 11:00am and last 45-50 minutes. Please note families attending will need to use UNI visitor parking in order to attend.

What does my child need to bring?

Camp participants will need to bring their own instrument or one checked out from their school program. String players will also need to bring a bow, rosin, and other standard equipment that you would use in your school orchestra rehearsals. All students should bring two sharpened #2 pencils. Music will be scanned and sent one week before the camp begins so that campers can learn their individual parts. Printed music will also be distributed on the first day of camp.

How are students evaluated?

During the registration process, camp participants will be asked to fill out basic information about themselves that includes how long they have spent studying their instrument, names of instructors, and a list of recent repertoire studied/performed. Students who perform and small group or solo ensemble may want to list what they have performed on this form. Students will also be asked to provide a short 1-2 minute video of them performing a piece of their choice. These videos are reviewed by camp staff. Assignments to groups factor this information in with student age and any requests made during the registration process.
